Blessing of Khachkar (cross-stone) in KhorVirap


On October 5, an opening ceremony of a khachkar in KhorVirap Monastery Complex was held. The idea to place a khachkar in KhorVirap was Bishop ArtakTigranyan’s, while the benevolence task was assumed by HrachPoghosyan.
The master of kahchkar, Varazdat Hambardzumyan was also present.
Around 10.000 khachkars were destroyed in Jugha, and the master can exactly replicate them. This khachkar is from the same series.
Almost 30 khachkars of Jugha have already been replicated, from which 3 are in Geghard, another 3 – in the yard of Etchmiadzin Seminary, 8 – in the nearabouts of St. Hovhannes Church, some of them got as far as Singapore and Australia.

New Manuscript Gallery in the Treasure House of Holy Etchmiadzin


On September 30, the Treasury House of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin saw the opening of a new Manuscript Gallery donated by Carl and Emma Soghoyans to the Mother See. Emma Soghoyan attended the opening ceremony.

The collection of manuscripts stored in the Mother See contains about 1000 pieces. It also includes the first printed Armenian Bible. All exhibition halls are heat-resistant and provided with necessary conditions for maintenance of manuscripts and papers.

At the opening of the Manuscript Gallery, Archbishop Datev Gharibyan, Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Brazil, was awarded the St. Nerses the Graceful Medal of our Church for his 50 years’ service.

Consecration of the Holy Cross Church in Hrazdan


The only functioning Church in Hrazdan city is Holy Mother of God located in the district Atarbekyan. This is one of those districts which used to be a village and were later on attached to the city. The number of population grew in parallel to the growth of spiritual needs; however there were no means to build a Church. One of such villages now a district of the city, is Kojor. There was a Church consecrated there yesterday. Holy Cross was consecrated by Archbishop Arakel Karamian, Primate of Kotayk Diocese, in the presence of many believers.

Churches of Gegharkunik Marz being Constructed and Renovated


In the borderland village Tetoo Jur (Sour Water) of Gegharkunik, a new church is being built with the support of Hayk Boryan now residing in Russia. Getashen is situated adjacent to this village. The construction of the Church of Getashe started from August 2012, with the support of its former resident – Robert Ghulyan.

One of the Churches under construction in the Diocese is the Church of Lechashen. Soon two Churches at once will open their doors in the city Sevan. The philanthropists are Alen Manukian and Sargis Petoyan from Paris.

The head of Gegharkunik Diocese Archbishop Markos Hovhannisyan gladly states, that over the last 5-6 years more than 30 Churches were built and renovated in the Diocese.

Construction of 5 Churches is currently underway, and 4 Churches are renovated.

The Relic of St. Gevork was taken to St. Gevork Church of Mughni


St. Gevork Church of Mughni is a dear and powerful sanctuary for thousands of people. Over the course of year, relics of saints and miracle-working Gospels are brought into the Monastery to bless the believers.

September 38 is one of those days. Every year, from the Treasury of Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin the relic of St. Gevork is being brought here.

Today the celebrant priest blessed the believers in right hand-like container of relics seeking the intercession of saints.
